Megève presents an unprecedented retrospective of the Megevan sculptor Pierre Margara. The Edith Allard Modern and Contemporary Art Space hosts an exceptional year-long exhibition dedicated to Pierre Margara, an essential figure in Megève and an internationally recognized sculptor. Through a three-part journey, the public will discover nearly a hundred sculptures in wood, marble and bronze, his creative process through studies and preparatory drawings, molds and materials. The exhibition invites a rare immersion into the universe of an artist who shapes matter with power and sensitivity.

Pierre delivers 2 beautiful works, a hand of love nearly 2 meters tall, walnut on white marble base, for a Parisian collector, and an 80cm sail.

Restoration of the My Way work

With the help of the town hall, Pierre was able to restore the major work he had created 10 years ago as a tribute to the song by his friend Jacques Revaux, My Way, created in 1967. An opportunity for the sculptor to reunite with all his friends and collectors during a festive cocktail at the foot of the statue, with the reprise of the emblematic title created for Claude François but taken up by Paul Anka then Frank Sinatra, which made the title go around the world in 1969.

30 years of the Albertville Olympics

For the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games, the Europe statue offered at the time by Pierre Margara was renovated and put back in place. Distinguished guests for this event included champions Jean-Pierre Vidal, Sebastien Amiez and Franck Piccard, chefs Emmanuel Renaut and Christophe Aribert, as well as Michel Barnier, Mayor Burnier Framboret Frédéric and De Navacelle de Coubertin Diane, descendant of Baron De Coubertin.

Visit to the Adobati foundry

The Megevan sculptor was in Mercurol in early December for a meeting with the Adobati brothers in charge of renovating the "Europe" statue, a 6m bronze normally placed in front of Albertville town hall. Refinishing of the patina and reinforcement of structural points, before the work returns to its place to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Albertville Olympic Games in 2022.
